Title of Position: IT System Administrator
Department: Finance & Operations
Reports To: Chief of Finance and Operations

Position Description: The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is a non-profit professional membership association that promotes the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research. AACAP is undergoing a period of growth and transition and needs an IT Administrator to evaluate our current IT structure and guide us toward using data best practices and efficiency in our mission-critical platforms.

The IT System Administrator is a new position that will be a key link between understanding AACAP business strategy and implementing IT solutions to best guide us toward meeting our business needs. The ideal candidate will be a team player with project management experience who understands how to provide technical information and training to all levels of AACAP staff and leadership. You will manage all information technology in keeping with a perspective to mitigate risk and enhanced capacity for team members.

AACAP currently offers a hybrid working environment, so the candidate must be able to work in their Washington, DC office as business needs require. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and optimize the organizational use of Microsoft O365 platforms, identify redundant software, and recommend best practices to suit business needs.
  • Oversee and evaluate efficiency of AACAP’s network infrastructure.
  • Analyze the organization’s data requirements to ensure business processes are within the scope of AACAP’s capabilities.
  • Work as a project manager coordinating with AACAP staff and managed IT service providers to implement technical projects within appropriate budget constraints and timeframes.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI DSS and other key compliance matters
  • Assist AACAP management with evaluating, planning, and designing major system enhancements, including oversight of installation and/or upgrades.
  • Oversee outsourced managed IT service providers.
  • Evaluate current and potential future use of Artificial Intelligence within the organization.
  • Document technical standard operating procedures and business solutions.
  • Develop/update business continuity plans and periodic updates to IT policies and procedures.
  • Communicate system changes to staff and train on new processes and procedures.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years managing the technical infrastructure of a similarly sized organization
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft O365 applications
  • Keen knowledge of trends in cyber-security and how to protect the organization from the latest cyber security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Have an innovative and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms with inexperienced users.
  • An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to oversee multiple projects prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and persuasively with all levels of staff and members while processing the ability to listen for understanding.
  • Available for occasional after-hours support occasionally when needed.
